The Nature of Energy - The verses of Allah, there are two forms, namely qauliyah and kauniyah, qauliyah is what is written in His book - Al-Qur'anul Karim - which is the daily reading of Muslims around the world, especially in the month of Ramadan like this. The verses of Kauniyah are the signs of His power that are presented throughout the earth in everything and event, only by mastering both of this ummah is promised to be a superior ummah (QS 3: 138-139).

Concerning this verse kauniyah, Allah says: "We will show them Our signs (power) in all parts of the earth and in themselves until it is clear to them that the Qur'an is true. Is it not enough that your Lord is a witness over all things? " (QS 41:53).

About the verses of our qauliyah is very common, reading or memorizing / muraja'ah up to one juz even more every day in the month of Ramadan like this - especially in the times of i'tikaf when the last 10 days we leave from work and specifically stay in the mosque reading and sprinkled His verses.

But what about His kauniyah verses, can in this month of Ramadan we see the signs of His power promised in the above verse? which thus motivates us to do good deeds and become a superior ummah as promised in the following series of verses?

"This (the Qur'an) is a clear testimony for all mankind, and a guide and a lesson for the pious. And do not (feel) weak and sad, because you are the highest (degree) if you are believers ”(QS 3: 138-139).

So the set of these verses is clear, we only become the best when we use the Qur'an as a guide and lesson. So when we study the verses of His kauniyah, all the things and events that He presents on this earth-also must also by following His instructions.

Well, what if one or more qauliyah verses that we read, memorize and tadaburi - from the more than 6,000 verses in the Qur'an that we finished - we make our Ramadan joke this year as a form of exercise - understand that kauni based on qauli instructions? then insyaAllah great things will happen.

For example, the verses of qauliyah that we will make our exercises in our I'tikaf with the readers of this site and also the large family of Kuttab Al-Fatih in Hambalang - Sentul, are verses about energy, then the theme of our I'tikaf year this is the Energy of the Qur'an.

His qauliyah verses include in Surat Yaasiin verse 80 about fire or energy from green trees, Surat Al-Waqi'ah verses 71-73 about the fire from trees in general, and Surat An-Naba 13-15 about the process of falling light sun, rain and the growth of grains and various crops. Can we relate this qauli to the kauni around us?

Note the following illustration of the process by which sunlight and rainwater fall into energy in a broad sense. The energy from the sun which then produces the energy our body needs - we call it food (food), from the same plant, when it became a fossil in tens of thousands of years produces energy also what we call the fuel (fuel) from the fossil.

For decades, humans have realized that fossil energy, which has been dredged for the last century, is now nearing its end. So looking for new energy, from plants that do not need to wait tens of thousands of years - immediately processed into energy, humans can produce new energy called bioethanol, biodiesel, etc.

But when a man seeks it without following His instructions, what happens is trial and error. When corn in America was used as bioethanol, in its neighbors - Mexico there was a tortilla turmoil - because its food was used as fuel by Americans. The addition of 2% energy mix of this early generation biofuel absorbs 34% of the original agricultural production for food.

From these examples, we can see clearly, the need to read His instructions on what should be energy for the body (food) and energy for the needs of our vehicle (fuel). Surat Al-Waqi'ah 71-73 became much easier to understand in this day and age when people traveling need fire or energy in the form of fuel from firewood. Why is that?

Because the fuel for our cars we can actually process directly from plants and other biomass materials - including foliage, which we process through gasification into syngas and later into Dimethyl Ether (DME) which is referred to as fuel of the 21st century.

From understanding the verses of kauniyah in the form of various molecules above, from carbohydrates/sugars/cellulose, gasoline/diesel, ethanol, and methanol to Dimethyl Ether (DME), we can understand that energy is rotated wherever it is food and fuel, both coming from tens of thousands of years ago (fossils) as well as what we process now from wood that is still green (Surat Yaasiin: 80), all the constituent elements are the same namely Carbon (C), Hydrogen (H) and Oxygen (O).

So where is our advantage if we can only understand? understanding it is of course advancement in itself, but how to play an active role in producing innovative works based on those guidelines will be to present excellence.

To process all non-food biomass ingredients (so as not to compete with food) into new and renewable fuels, very clean fuel at an affordable price for all people, then this is one of the things that need real charity that can be done by people who are knowledgeable in their respective fields.

For the DME process of the biomass, for example, our experiments have now reached more than 50%, but we still need a lot of other expertise - to make this work more perfect.

Among those we need are gasification experts to perfect the reactor we have made, then catalyst experts because so many parts of this process require the most effective catalyst, distillation experts so that the products we produce achieve maximum purity, external motorists (Stirling engine) to all the heat coming out of this process can be utilized into electrical energy at least for the purposes of this process itself. And various other skills.

From the need for expertise that does not exist in us, we actually understand, how only to understand the verses of his qauliyah, we have not immediately become superior. Even when we have just mastered some of these verses of kauniyah - we have not yet mastered We are only superior when we control both thoroughly to the core of the problem, it is the so-called ulul albab (from lubb - the core of the problem), are people who are truly knowledgeable and intelligent, people who are given the wisdom of many good deeds and people to whom Allah teach him science directly.

Among these sciences can be taught partly, others must be lived in real life - later we will understand by themselves, then that is where the importance of charity lies. That is why what is removed from the universal collection of the losers, are those who believe, do good deeds, advise with truth and patience.
