The Shift of Human Morality in the Modern Era
Morality is etymologically taken from the Arabic language which means human attitude or behavior, good or bad. Human morality if studied with the approach of meaning in Indonesian is often referred to as morality.
Good morals and bad morals are relative and subjective depending on the conversion of the people who agree with them. Just a small example, if kissing in public is a very natural and common thing in western culture. The situation is different with eastern culture, such as Indonesian kissing in public is a bad deed.
However, however, the good and bad values always experience a shift in meaning from generation to generation. so human morality will undergo a change of perception in looking at the truth of a.
When we consider the history of human life began since the Prophet Adam and his descendants who inhabited this earth, those who were raised by the development of time, then followed by the realization of prosperity on earth followed by the diversity of civilizations from generation to generation.
Human life is chaotic and does not know each other's understanding. While at one time human life can live a straight life, soon the straight path will disappear again in a very long time.
So the prophet or apostle came down to straighten back so that people return to His path. Carry out His commands and stay away from His prohibitions. And the last prophet is the Prophet Muhammad who brought the light of truth for us to emulate his attitude.
However, our distance with him stretches so far that many discourses are vague about the fact of the truth. The only way is to look at its history and look at the Qur'an as God's final revelation. And Islam as a guide to the path of truth.
Morality is the most basic teaching of Islam. A perfect human being is a human being with good morals. But now, in these chaotic times, western culture that is so liberal is spreading to all sectors.
Today there are many shifts in the meaning of moral truth. If in our culture in Indonesia, sex outside of marriage is something that is taboo and forbidden by religion, but the current generation has sex outside of marriage is considered part of the lifestyle.
If there used to be a pregnant woman without a husband was a disgrace, nowadays it is common and people will inform it. This is what is called a shift from the meaning of truth.
People who view the truth no longer make religious rules the benchmark, but under the pretext of human rights freedom they can do whatever they want.
It is the basis of the existentialist philosophy that human beings are basically born free, but as adults they are bound by their own rules.

If we look at the history of human civilization, the freedom to think and act does not mean the freedom to do whatever we want. We still have God's rules that we must obey. We are born into the world not to walk in freedom but to walk in order.
The problem is whether or not the person is bound by the rules of God, it comes back to each individual how we approach the rules that will lead people to good morals.
So, good and true morals are morals that are formulated in the Quran and Hadith. And we must emulate the attributes of the Prophet Muhammad. Then we will find the straight path to the path that He desires.
