Hajj, Not a Meaningless Ritual - The Islamic teachings of kaffah have applied several rules in strengthening the sense of brotherhood and unity in instilling a spirit of cooperation and tolerance, which will ultimately realize common interests, in the context of Ukhuwah Islamiyah and Ukhuwah Insaniyah that have always been heard.

Prayers, for example, will be much better and more perfect when performed in congregation. Zakat will give birth to the nature of love and social concern for fellow Muslims who are less able, while cultivating their optimism in work and effort, patience and trust.

Then, for those who are physically and mentally able, Islam ordered to perform the pilgrimage to the House, which is a great gathering of Muslims around the world. Is the pilgrimage just that ?.

The special thing in this pilgrimage is, there is nothing different and differentiated, the clothes worn are the same, the work performed is also the same, and the interests are the same, regardless of race, skin color, degree and maybe even the same intention.

Islam as a holy teaching views everything that human beings do based on their intentions, intentions will be realized if done sincerely. In doing good deeds, intention or nawaitu is located in the first point, and every deed of any form demands sincere intention from the perpetrator.

Clearly, every deed and deed will bring benefits based on its intentions. “Innamal Aqmalu Bilniat. "Indeed, all deeds should be accompanied by intention." (Hr Bukhari and Muslim).

Al-Quran has clearly stated that sincere intention is one of the main conditions for the acceptance of a deed. So, it is clear that acts of worship, especially those done without being overshadowed by insincere intentions aka ria and just wanting to get praise, will be in vain. In a sense, God will not accept deeds but sincere deeds and because to seek the pleasure of God alone (Hadits: Ibn Majah).

The obligation of Muslims in the month of Ramadan is to fast to achieve the value of taqwa, while in the month of Dzullhijah is to perform the pilgrimage to the House once in a lifetime also to increase the value of piety.

Hajj is obligatory for Muslims for those who can afford it completely, both in terms of cost, physical, mental, facilities and infrastructure, up to the ability to master the procedures for its implementation. Hajj is one of the means to get closer to God, so at that time it is hoped that the prospective pilgrims to really make the best use of the time to worship God Almighty.

It cannot be denied that this pilgrimage is an obligation for able Muslims, and if the ability is already possessed, then there is no reason to deny it.

This has been explained in the words of Allah Qs Ali Imran-97. " In it are clear signs, the shrine of Ibrahim, whoever enters it will be secure. Performing Hajj is a human obligation to God, namely (for) those who are able to travel to the House. Whoever denies (the obligation of Hajj), then indeed Allah is Rich (does not need anything) from the universe. " (Qs Ali Imran-97).

The above verse repeatedly states that the obligation of Hajj is an obligation that can not be waived, postponed and suspended to perform it (except for an agreed reason).

It is explained that performing Hajj is only once in a lifetime for those who can afford it, if the ability has not been met then the obligation falls away. And likewise for those who have fulfilled it more than once then the law is circumcision.

Keep in mind that God has bestowed the ability to fully perform Hajj, but there is no intention to comply with it and even tend to deny it. Thus, life and even death will be futile before God. Said the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him).

"Whoever has supplies and vehicles (travel expenses) that can deliver them to Baitull Haram and has no intention whatsoever to perform Hajj. So it's okay for him to die as a Jew or a Christian. " (Hr Tarmizi and Ahmad).

Hajj or umrah is a spiritual activity in which there are sacrifices, expressions of gratitude, doing good sincerely and carrying out all the commands of God according to the ability given by Him.

It is expected in performing Hajj is to cleanse the soul, heart and lust, therefore use a clean fee (halal), never use money from corruption, cheating, pungli, money from robbery, etc. for Hajj.

And the most important thing is to return from the pilgrimage later, must be able to show a change in attitude and an increase in deeds of worship and daily behavior patterns. This should be a reference for Muslims who have implemented the fifth pillar of Islam.

Hajj mabrur essence is, how we are able to increase our closeness to God, and our closeness to fellow human beings, in realizing amar ma'ruf nahi mungkar collectively based on a desire to achieve the pleasure of God alone, which is applied after returning from Hajj.

In addition, Muslims who have performed Hajj must have a commitment to increase the quality and quantity of charity voluntarily. God speaks. “Indeed, shafa and marwah are part of the signs of Allah. So, whoever makes Hajj to the House or performs Umrah, then there is no sin for him, doing Sa'i between the two. And whoever does a good deed willingly, then indeed Allah is All -Gracious, All -Knowing. " (Qs Al Baqarah-158).

In addition, after returning from Hajj must be able to increase patience and faith and must have a high sense of gratitude for favors. Notice again the words of Allah, Qs Huud-115. " And be patient because indeed Allah does not waste the reward of those who do good."

And Qs Ibrahim-7. ” And (remember), when your Lord announced, that if you are grateful, We will certainly add (favors) to you, and if you are ungrateful (My favors) then My punishment is painful. "

The behavior of a successful pilgrimage or a pilgrimage that pleases Him if seen in terms of morals, many are taught in the Quran, among them like to spend wealth to anyone in need, especially for the poor, always be fair in resolving various issues, tawaduk, patience, far from hypocrisy, not arrogant etc.

Things like the ones mentioned above that are perfectly contained in the Qur'an and the hadith of the Prophet, however, after returning from Hajj, must be ingrained and firmly rooted in the heart. So that the worship from the realization of the fifth pillar of Islam is not in vain.

Before becoming a stingy pilgrim, stingy, greedy, angry, abstinence from being criticized, arrogant, greedy, hypocritical, etc.

Returning from the holy land changed one hundred and eighty degrees even more, kind -hearted, generous, always socializing with the community while calling for goodness and always giving a positive spirit to be more serious in matters of worship, (not proud of themselves because their status has changed). So that is where the pilgrimage is not just a ritual that has no meaning.
