The Islamic Pillars And Their Meanings

The Islamic Pillars And Their Meanings

After talking about six (6) matters in the pillars of faith in the previous article, on this occasion I will talk about the Islamic pillars and their meanings.

If the pillars of faith are a fundamental foundation in the Islamic religion, the position of Islamic pillars is a primary pillar in the Islamic religion. By being on the foundation by strong foundations then the person will become increasingly steady, especially if it is stronger with the pillars and pillars of sturdy then will undoubtedly more powerful.

The pillars of Islam consist of 5 (five) cases, such as :

1. Recite And Declared two sentences of Shahadat

The first Islamic pillars are to declare about two sentences of creed. The Creed is a pledge of testimony or confession that there is no God but Allah ALMIGHTY and prophet Muhammad PBUH is the Messenger and Apostle of Allah.

In principle, the Shahadat consists of 3 (three) kinds:

A. Shahadat Rububiyyah

The Creed Rububiyyah is a pledge of testimony and recognition of the whole spirit of God, including human beings when they are still in the realm of the identity of Allah ALMIGHTY. At that time all the spirit testified and acknowledged that Allah ALMIGHTY is the creator, the keeper, the ruler and the owner of the whole universe and all its contents.

Notice the word of Allah ALMIGHTY in Surah Al-A'raaf verse number 172 as follow :

Means:
And (mention), when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, (Saying to them), "Am I not your Lord? "They said, "yes, we have testified. "(Thos)- lest yiy should say on the day of resurrection, "indeed, we were of this unaware."

From this verse, we can conclude that basically, every creature of Allah ALMIGHTY (including mankind) has acknowledged the Tauhid (in Arabic) of Allah ALMIGHTY.

But over time the faith and Tauhidd of a human being will depend heavily on the factors of both parents and the environmental factors of the association where he lived. These environmental factors will have a significant effect on their faith. Whether he will remain a Muslim or instead make his personality a Jew, Christian or Majusi will depend on the factors of both parents and the environment.

B. Syahadat Uluhiyyah and Syahadat treatise

The two types of creeds are one and that cannot be separated. The Shahadat Uluhiyyah is our testimony and acknowledgment of the existence of the Godhead to Allah ALMIGHTY.

The Creed is a testimony and our acknowledgment of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH is the Messenger and Apostle Allah ALMIGHTY.

2. Establishing Prayer

The second pillars of Islam are to establish prayers for one day overnight of 5 (five) times, such is Isya, Shubuh, Dhuhr, Asher, and Maghrib.

Prayer is a primary pillar of the Islamic religion. Whoever has set up prayer is, in fact, he has established religion and whoever leaves the prayer, he has broken down religion. In addition, prayer can also prevent from evil deeds and immorality.

Allah ALMIGHTY has said in Surah Al-ankaabut verse number 45 as follow :

اتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ ۖ إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ ۗ وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ

Means:
Recite, (O Muhammad), what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.

3. Fast During Ramadhan

God has said in surah Al- Baqarah verse number 183 as follows :

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

Means :
O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it is was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.

4. Pay Zakat Al-Fitr

The fourth pillars of Islam are fulfilling and paying Zakat al-Fitr. Zakat al-Fitr issued or paid at the end of Ramadhan and before the prayer of Idul Fitr. Zakat al-Fitr which should be paid by every soul is 2,5 kilograms of local staple food.

5. The Hajj for those who can afford

The fifth pillars of Islam are performing hajj to Baitullah (Mecca). Especially for the hajj, Allah ALMIGHTY only obliges to the Muslims who are able to carry it, namely able to financially (cost) and able to the physical side (health). While for Muslims who have not been able to charge it is automatically not exposed to the obligation to perform the Hajj.

Hajj is the narrowing of the Islamic, therefore every Muslim should pray to Allah ALMIGHTY that he can go to Baitullah and fulfill the calling of Allah.

Thus the article on the sense of Islamic pillars and meaning. Hopefully useful and can add our Islamic and faith.
