Obligation To Study For Muslims
In this article, I will discuss the obligation to study Islam. For every Muslim to study is an obligation, because without science that is mastered then Muslims will be left with other people.
It is in accordance with the Word of God in the Qur'an surah Al-Alaq Verse 1-5 as follows:
اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ
خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ
الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ
عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Means:
1. Recite in the name of your Lord who created
2. Created man from a clinging substance.
3. Recite, and your Lord is the Most Generous
4. Who taught by the pen –
5. Taught man that which he knew not.
Studying not only in the school environment, but we can also study in religious studies at the Ta'lim (Arabic) assembly. We can also study diligently to read books. The command of Allah Almighty in Surah Al-Alaq above very clearly says, " read (with the name of your lord) who created ". This is the command of Allah for us as Muslims to study. Because this is the command of Allah then we must insist on knowledge with vigor, because basically, we are running His orders. That's why science is part of worship to Allah Almighty.
His Majesty the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah Honor Him) said as the history of Ibnu Maajah as the following:

From the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad is very clear in saying that the law requires compulsory science for every Muslim either male or female.
In other hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah Honor Him) said:

Meaning :
"Whoever wants the world than should be with the science, whoever wants the Hereafter, then let with the science, whoever wants both, then should be with the science".
In addition to the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah Honor Him), Imam As-Shafi'i said:
"Whoever wants the world than should be with the science, whoever wants the Hereafter, then let with the science, whoever wants both, then should be with the science".

Meaning :
"WHOEVER TAKES THE WAY TO SCIENCE, ALLAH WILL MAKE WAY FOR HEAVEN. AND INDEED, PEOPLE WHO HAVE KNOWLEDGE ARE ALWAYS ASKED FOR FORGIVENESS (FOR SIN – SINS) BY ALL THE CREATURES AND ON THE EARTH, TO THE FISH-SEA SEA. INDEED, PEOPLE OF KNOWLEDGE ARE HEIRS OF THE PROPHETS.
In line with the priest-Shaafi'i, Imam Al-Ghazali also said that science is beautiful, glorious and central.
It is further said that something beautiful and in the same way there are 3 (three) kinds:
(1). Something that is in love because there are other factors outside of it.
(2). Something that is pleased by the value of the eccentricities.
(3). Something is in search because of the eccentricities and also because there are other factors outside of it.
What criteria must be done by someone to be successful?
Here are some tips for studying:
1. In the basic with a strong and profound belief that we can acquire and implement in life.
2. Ikhlas (Arabic) in any science that happens.
3. Have a high spirit, not easy to despair and not easy to complain.
4. Always consequent and maintain continuity.
5. Need sacrifices, in the form of time, treasure, mind, energy and so on.
6. Good relations and communication between advisers and guided.
7. The doctrine of our knowledge is a fundamental necessity in life.
Thus a Muslim friend, a little description of the obligation to study in Islam religion. May we always give spirit to the ALMIGHTY God so that we are diligent to seek knowledge. Furthermore, it is the Islamic religious sciences.
Remember, when we leave the inheritance to our posterity of wealth, then that treasure will gradually run out. But if we bequeath science to our posterity, then that science will continue to grow and thrive.
